Semaglutide and Tirzepatide (compounded, with b-12 and glycine)
At Drops of Beauty we know that achieving your perfect weight is not an easy task, but our professionals are here to guide you along the way. Our Weight Loss Program with Semaglutide or Tirzepatide (Compounded with B-12/Glycine) starts with a consultation with one of our Nurse Practitioners, who will assess if you are a candidate for this treatment. While undergoing treatment, patients must have regular follow-up consultations at Drops of Beauty to ensure close care. Injections of Semaglutide or Tirzepatide are indicated for chronic weight management in adults who are overweight, along with a balanced/healthy diet and regular physical activity.
What is Semaglutide?
Semaglutide is a modified molecule our bodies make, called a GLP-1 analog. It works by increasing insulin production and lowering glucagon secretion, as well as targeting areas in the brain that regulate appetite and food intake. A small change in the molecule allows the drug to last weeks in our bodies rather than the natural version our bodies make, which lasts minutes.
How does Semaglutide work?
1. Delays how quickly our stomachs digest food, leading to a feeling of fullness and satisfaction with smaller meal sizes.
2. Slows intestinal motility so you will feel fuller longer after meals.
3. Lowers blood sugars, in part by reducing the production of sugar in the liver.
4. Stimulates insulin secretion by the pancreas.
5. Decreases inflammation throughout the body, which leads to Adiponectin release and fat lipolysis.
What is Tirzepatide?
Tirzepatide is a once-weekly injectable dual glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptor agonist. It works by increasing insulin production and lowering glucagon
secretion, as well as targeting areas in the brain that regulate appetite and food intake. A small change in the molecule allows the drug to last weeks in our bodies rather than the natural version our bodies make, which lasts minutes.
How does Tirzepatide work?
1. Delays how quickly the stomach digests food, leading to a feeling of fullness and satisfaction with smaller meal sizes.
2 . Slows intestinal motility so you will feel fuller longer after meals.
3. Dual action receptors allow for lower blood sugars, in part by reducing the production of sugar in the liver.
4 . Stimulates insulin secretion by the pancreas.
5. GIP increases energy expenditure, resulting in weight loss reductions.
What are the side effects of Semaglutide and Tirzepatide?
The most common side effects include nausea and constipation. Acid reflux, stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea are also potential side effects. The risk of side effects increases in patients with hypoglycemia, kidney problems, and risk of allergic reactions. More serious side effects may include pancreatitis, kidney issues and thyroid tumors. Other side effects may happen.
The compounded Semaglutide and Tirzepatide at Drops of Beauty has B-12, which may help reduce nausea side effects, as well as Glycine as it may be beneficial for preserving muscle mass.
What is the difference between Semaglutide and Tirzepatide?
Both medications are effective at helping many patients to lose weight. Possibly because of its dual mechanism, early studies suggest that Tirzepatide may be more effective at helping most people to lose weight. Typically, patients at Drops of Beauty start their Weight Loss Program with Semaglutide and may switch to Tirzepatide only if indicated by the practitioner.
Note: Compounded Tirzepatide is not available as of 10/02/2024. Patients will be updated if it becomes available again.
